Home Port

Sheltered from nor’easters that storm down the Bay in fall and winter.  Open to the faintest southerly when you need a cooling breeze in summer.  Deep water to come and go whatever the weather.  Sound like a sailor’s dream?  Indeed, and that’s where our little yacht Steadfast lies in her slip at Ouacha Point.

Other pages here will tell you about Steadfast, us, the places we’ve been and where we hope to go.

Welcome aboard, mates!  It’s good to have you with us.

    Hi Kate and Bill:
Bruce here with another 27. I’m up on Narragansett Bay and do a far amount of cruising from Eastern Long Island to Nantucket and Providencetown. I’ll be out on Buzzards Bay and Martha’s Vineyard during the third week of July with one of the sailing groups I belong to. When and where are going to?

    S/V Allure

    • Ahoy, “Allure”! Once we get to LI Sound, we’ll be taking our time, stopping in as many harbors as hit our fancy. So we may be at Block Island / Newport / Narragansett Bay sometime mid-to-late June, before going on to the Vineyard or Buzzard’s Bay. Thanks for checking in. We may call on your local knowledge as we head your way!

      Fair winds!

I’ll be looking forward to meeting up. Might be able to get you a mooring somewhere on the lower bay. Keep in touch.
        Bruce

      • Roger that! We plan to take our time going up LIS so it could be a couple of weeks. Thanks, Bruce.

      • Hi Kate and Bill
Been itching to leave Narragansett Bay. I have a slip reservation at the Rhode Island Yacht Club for the weekend after that I’ll be heading outside the bay. Plan on a trip to Block Island in a few weeks. I’ll follow your site be in touch when you get closer.

    • Good talking with you on the phone yesterday. We found the Cushman monument, biggest one there! And now we “know the rest of the story.”

    Hi Guys

Godwin J. at MYC put me onto your travels.
Just got done doing the opposite trip delivering my Sabre from Beverly Mass to Hardyville 2 weeks ago.

Sailed NE for 30 years and have many contacts in the area.
Give me a call if you need anything.
Godwin & my Sabre buddies helped me out when I hit some issues in the upper Chesapeake.
Looking forward to returning the favor if you need a hand.

If not, we will have to trade some stories when you get back.
    Have a great time.

    john.

    • Thanks, John! That’s what makes the experience: we all help out when we can. We’ll look forward to meeting when we get home and will let you know if there’s a question in the meantime. Fair winds!

    Ahoy Maties,
Your pictures are alarmingly pleasant. There must be some ugliness out there somewhere!!
What I am seeing is the best of America and it makes me want to take a road trip North. (Feet firmly on the firmament, thank you)
Kate, I left you a LONG voicemail but we will catch up soon. Miss you terribly but I have finally
    resigned myself to your absence.
Wish you continued good fortune on your trip.
    Love, Karen

    • Thanks, Karen. We don’t take many photos when it’s raining. But so far, some summer haze, a bit of fog here and there, a few rainy days but we’ve been very blessed in terms of the weather. And it is beautiful up here! You’d love it.

  13. Judy & LIn

Wow, what an amazing trip. The lighthouses are awesome ! Thanks for sharing your adventure.
